2LOLs Adventures

While we were still getting comfortable with our kayaks, we decided to go back to Bessie's creek and this time go downstream from Hunt Rd., our normal put in and take out spot.  We searched a bit, and we still haven't found any other safe places to access the creek.  The creek was much higher this trip after recent rains.  In this direction we saw a bit more wildlife, starting with this Long Horn.  We also saw the usual Anhingas, regular cattle, horses and ducks.  At one spot we encountered some "ripples" which gave us a bit of a thrill.  Not so much fun on the way back when we learned that it was a concrete wall under the water.  I ported with the help of a friendly resident.  CC managed to go over it with the help of a handy tree.  CC on the water. Bessie's Creek, sometimes also known as Bessie's Bayou is actually, a rather large waterway that goes from I-10 West just past Brookshire, Texas, almost to FM 1093 between Fulshear and Simonton.  The entire navigable waterway is probably 10 miles.  We entered the water at Hunt Rd. and traveled upstream about 2.5 miles, then turned around and traveled downstream against a headwind.  Once we unloaded the boats, we prepared for our put in:  On this trip, most of the pictures are of CC - the next trip she took more photos!  Bessie's seems very wide for a creek.  One thing you will notice, is that she's usually in front. A good amount of the area around Bessie's is farm land.  There are a lot of cattle, and CC likes to talk to them.  Some of the reactions are interesting.  On this trip, we had some yearlings who seemed challenged by what she had to "say".  They responded in kind. Welcome to 2LOLs Adventures! We are two "Little Old Ladies" out having fun RV'ing and kayaking.   On this forum we will link photos and videos along with commentary of our adventures.   The idea of our blog was sparked by so many people telling us we were "so brave" and couldn't believe we were driving cross-country pulling an RV, or kayaking down a river instead of sitting home with the knitting (or crocheting). To be fair, many of our friends and family are telling each of us, "You go Girl!!" and so we do... Welcome to our Adventure!
